Simmons School is a restored one room schoolhouse that sits behind Hope Intermediate on State Road 9 in Hope, Indiana. The schoolhouse can be seen by entering the parking lot on the north side of Hope Intermediate. Visitors are welcome to walk to the schoolhouse and peek inside the windows when the schoolhouse is not in session. During the school year the schoolhouse offers a day long field trip to classes from all over central Indiana. Currently the schoolhouse runs 80 field trips per year. We ask that the public NOT attempt to visit on this arranged day. A calendar of reservations is available at the Yellow Trail Visitors Information Center, located inside the Yellow Trail Museum. You can also view the calendar online. (Please see the link below to access the Simmons Schoolhouse Website). Any other dates or arrangements can be made to open the schoolhouse to groups for a short period of time. Please call 812.371.7969 or 812.546.8020 to make these arrangements. Please be prepared to tell us the number of visitors and both arrival and departure times so someone can meet you for the length of time you wish to visit.
